Probably a reference to measurement in quantum mechanics. It is the testing and manipulation of a physical system to yield a numerical result. It will have an impact on the measured subsystem, such as changing the state of the subsystem. Quantum systems in the same state yield completely different results after being measured. In short, measurement is the core of interpretation systems in quantum mechanics. I guess you could say how using certain and different quantum characters can help determine the outcome of a battle (mono quantum for the win!).
