Reference
"I Call Upon _____" is a rather common phrase in the Orphic Hymns. "I Call for Deep Slumber" may be a reference to LXXXIV. To Sleep [Hypnos]. This hymn speaks of Hypnos and mention Thanatos. Both are twin brothers born of Nyx (Night), and sometimes also said to be children of Erebus (Darkness). Thanatos is mentioned in the hymn because it isn't just about falling asleep. It's about surrendering to a divine force, one that tames sorrow, quiets the world, and mimics the serenity of death without actually dying. It's why the Greeks see Hypnos and Thanatos as siblings, both involve a kind of stillness and withdrawal from a world of pain, but only one is permanent.
