A reference to "The Man Without Shadows," an animated short film written by Adelbert von Chamisso and directed by George Schweizer. The film was released in France on May 16, 2004. It tells the story of a young man who suddenly loses his shadow and becomes a social outcast. His lover also leaves him but he eventually finds a position in a shadow puppet show where he can manipulate the puppets without leaving any shadow. The film won Best Short Film in 2004.
