Reference

Possibly a reference to "Night on the Galactic Railroad", a fairytale written by Kenji Miyazawa (and the very basis for the Astral Express). There's a story in the book about how the constellation of Scorpio was born: "a scorpion who preys on insects flees from a weasel and, after falling down a well, regrets not having sacrificed itself to feed the weasel, a good cause. It vowed to serve others in its next life, and its body burst into flames that still burn in the night sky." After hearing this story, the protagonist - Giovanni - decides to follow the scorpion's example and tells his best friend: "Campanella, now we're alone again, let's go together forever and ever. I'm like that scorpion, and I don't care if my body burns a hundred times as long as it's for everyone's happiness." I see this "burning body" line as the basis for the Stellaron embedded in the Trailblazer. As for the heart and stars, at the end of the book the two friends part ways: Campanella, who was on his way to the afterlife, continues his journey, while Giovanni goes back home (metaphorically, his heart would be with his friend amidst the stars). - Credit: Raiden 群星,我的归宿 is the Chinese title of The Stars My Destination, a sci-fi novel by Alfred Bester, first published in 1956 in the UK under the title Tiger! Tiger!, and later serialized as The Stars My Destination in the US from 1956 to 1957. It has been regarded as one of the classic forerunners of the cyberpunk genre. - Credit: Necrosyrtes
