A reference to the folklore of the same name. The Pied Piper of Hamelin tells the story of the Pied Piper, who is hired by the town of Hamelin to deal with the rat infestation. The Pied Piper uses music to lead the rats away. The town refuses to pay him for his service, so he uses his music to lure away the town's children who are never seen again. Another interpretation has the children be lured away by a pagan or a heretic to forests near Coppenbrügge for ritual dancing, where they all perish due to a sinkhole or a landslide.
