Probably a reference to the Japanes manga series titled, "Requiem of the Rose King," written by Aya Kanno. It is loosely based on the Shakespearean plays Henry VI, Part 3, and Richard III. It follows an intersex version of Richard the III during the Wars of the Roses period in English history.
